At Chamber Judge Executive forum, we were asked about the fact that the City of Paducah has invested significant focus and resources into revitalizing the Southside. We were asked as County Judge Executive, how would you define the Southside as it extends beyond the city limits into McCracken County, and what would your priorities be for revitalizing those areas?

To Clarify - A 2021 Goal Is Not a Permanent Policy

After the October 1st candidate forum, there seemed to be confusion about the City's former goal of annexing six parcels per year.

So let's clear that misinformation up too.

There has been a great deal of discussion generated by last week’s public forum about two issues: the history of our 911 improvements and the City of Paducah’s annexation policy.

Rather than debate over memories or political claims, I think the best way to address these questions is to look at the public record.

The answer is a resounding YES. Over the past several months, I’ve been asked an important question: What happens to the Mayor’s office if I am elected McCracken County Judge Executive? Recently, my opponent posted information suggesting that there would not be an election for Mayor until 2028.

As we prepare for the growth expected in McCracken County, housing is an issue we need to be talking about NOW—not after the demand is already here.

My opponent has repeatedly suggested in the past several months that I support merging the City of Paducah and McCracken County governments. I want the community to know that is simply NOT TRUE. I do not support City-County merger.

There is no question that McCracken County is entering a period of significant growth. As I have stated before, the biggest question is whether we are prepared for it and more importantly how do we go about getting prepared.

I believe the people we serve should know what their government is doing, why decisions are being made and, just as importantly, have an opportunity to tell their elected officials what they think.

I’m not just leaving my job as Mayor. I simply want to do more for our community. I want to take the leadership I have brought to the City of Paducah and use it to benefit all McCracken County residents; those that live both in the county and city.

Leadership during this period of growth isn’t about simply enforcing policies or managing day-to-day government operations. It requires someone with extensive business experience who can think strategically, bring people together, solve complex problems, and build consensus around long-term solutions.
